::: PORT UTILITY

Civitavecchia port, founded by Traiano emperor, as Rome 's gate, has represented for many centuries the fulcrum of contacts and trade between antique nations “ Nostrum Sea ”.

Up to today, Civitavecchia maintains this privileged position, being in the centre of a modern and efficient rail, road and airport system that connects the capital and the centre of Italy to the rest of the world.

Thanks to its geographical exposal in the centre of the Italian peninsula, Civitavecchia port is one of the fundamental strategic logistic structures on national level and European for all the handling of goods and passengers.

Every year in Civitavecchia about 11 million tons of volume of goods, bulk, cereals, forest products, iron-steel products and chemical products / new automobiles and containers, in addition to liquid bulk material are handled.

ivitavecchia port, thanks to the port's new Regulative Arrangement, has extended commercial traffic up to two million tons of volume of goods. Furthermore it is a strategic gate for the access to the most important Italian tourist areas and major Mediterranean Cruise roots. The increment of passenger traffic has been encouraged by a farsighted policy that has also contemplated the establishing, in 1991, of the “Coordinamento del Medio Tirreno” that aims to strengthen the Short Sea Shipping between Civitavecchia and Sardinia's ports ( Olbia - Aranci Gulf , Cagliari and Port Torres ).
